Exploring the marvels of the Middle East - Part 2 A Day in Dubai

A Day in Dubai

If you’re sitting thinking of traveling the world then take the chance. Its totally worth !!

A quick trip to UAE's cosmopolitan capital city Dubai.

A city with outstanding modern architecture and mind-blowing skyscrapers each standing tall. Know for its luxury shopping, architecture, night life and much more.
Among several skyscrapers standing tall is the very famous Burj Khalifa our first stops in Dubai.

After 3 days in Abu Dhabi, we drove to Dubai for a day. A quick 2 hour drive from Abu Dhabi. Bound by time constraints we took a  organised day tour to explore the important sights of the city .

As we entered Dubai we could see tall magnificent structure all over the city. The metro lines , wide roads made this city look simply perfect.
While you driver in to the city of Dubai from Abu Dhabi on the left and you will first spot the Burj Al Arab a super luxurious hotel also a prominent landmark of the city.

Soon did I realise it was Burj Khalifa I was seeing from the window of my bus. The first glimpse of the tallest tower, The Burj Khalifa. Burj Dubai as it is also called is the tallest tower in the world (as on Jan 2016 :P)

We spent close to 3 hours here. It however is worth more time. The entrance to the tower is from the Dubai Mall. It is advisable to book tickets online. Some days could be crowed and it could take a while to complete the tour to the top of the world.

Evenings could be great time to visit Burj Khalifa and enjoy the light up city. Try being at the top during sun set and enjoy the best of day light and evening lights.
Post the security checks while we proceeded towards the lift that will take you to the tallest tower
124th floor is about 58 seconds.

Simply incredible! Isn't it?

Enjoy the spectacular view ! A moment of applause to the architect Adrian D. Smith and the workers.
Post the selfies at the top. You could also collect pictures of the tower at the picture gallery on the ground floor.

The Dubai Mall houses them all. There is so much to do here. From shopping at the mall to a leisure walk at the Dubai aquarium admiring the sea creatures. It is here that the Dubai's musical fountain play every evening. Don't miss that if you are around this place in the evening. And the tallest tower.

Given the time limitation we had to move on.

We then headed towards the Dubai museum As we drove by all we did was to glaring and admire the Dubai Skyline. Dubai indeed has one of the best skylines in the world. The architecture is splendid from the tallest tower to the remake of the big ben. Dubai has it all!

Dubai Museum

A step into Dubai 40 years ago. Yes, what you see here was no longer than 30 years ago. This place will help you understand and appreciate the growth of this city. Representing the traditional lifestyle of Emirates cities since 70's. Replicas of every walk of life could be seen there. Even if you are not museum person a visit to this place will help you admire and appreciate what this city has done in the last couple of decades.

Gold Souk and Spice Market

We then headed to the Creek to take a boat to the Gold souk & spice markets. The gold market is definitely worth a visit even if shopping gold is off your mind. Several pieces of gold carved and place at display before every shop is truly admirable. One of them being the Worlds largest gold ring :D  Its here people sell copies of several branded bags. We warned told by our guide to not fall pray to these. Beware!
After some spice shopping picking up souvenirs we headed back to the bus.

Post the spice shopping and glaring the gold market ;) we headed to the Jumeirah beach.
This is the place to get the best shots of the famous Burj Al Arab a prominent landmark of this city. We also spent some time at the beach.

Last but not the least for an under water drive to The Atlantis, The Palm. A hotel resort located in the palm Jumeirah.
