Ganesh Chaturti a famous festival celebrate in most of India. Especially in Southern and western India. A festival celebrated in honor of the elephant-headed lord Ganesha. This festival typically falling in the August / September months of the Bhadrapada year as per the Hindu calendar.
This is one of the many festivals that unite the nation. A celebration at home in public places at work and so on.. A feeling of oneness and pride in people to celebrate the charm of the lord. Maharastra among several other states stands out in celebrating this festival. Pune and Mumbai cities have famous processions.
Eco-friendly Ganesha is making a place in everyone home these days. Made of natural clay which is environment-friendly and degradable and can also grow into a tree, just add a few seeds beneath the idol.
This one the festivals I personally enjoy a lot. Celebrations with a small pooja at home and then a visit to the temple/matt. Matt where a large idol of lord Ganesh sits to listen to the prayers of several people. An immensely refreshing and divine feeling indeed. Chanting of the bhajans in praise of Lord sharing joy and happiness. One of my friends has a unique Ganesh at their home. This one is made by her dad over a period of days prior to the actual festive day. A great sight of idols all around the city. Markets full of flowers banana leaves used to decor the god.
This year has been special. I decided to visit clay station and participate in their "Claystation's Make your own Ganesha program". It was simply gleeful. Enjoyed every bit of the idol making. Me along with my friend Apoorva visited the place around 5.30 pm. We then began making our Ganesha under the guidance of the clay station staff. The people at clay station are really very friendly and helpful . You will just love the experience. You simply follow the instructions and keep enjoying as you slowing begin making several parts of your Ganesh idol. We started by filling the molds with clay. Gently gluing the two halves with some clay slurry. Slowly several parts began to get in shape.
